We are delighted to announce that local award winning singer-song writer, Megan Henwood, and her band will be returning to the Wooburn Festival.  Megan last played for us in 2014 and was a great hit with our audience.

Megan Henwood  began writing songs in her early teens and by 19 she won the 2009 BBC Young Folk Award for her poignant song about relationships and abuse, White Lies, which featured on her 2011 debut album, Making Waves. The album established Megan as a songwriter rooted in folk but by no means bound by it. Three tracks from the album went on to be play listed on Radio 2 and she became a regular on the festival circuit.

Her follow up album, Head Heart Hand, in 2015 was an even more accomplished affair and was widely critically acclaimed. She has subsequently performed on all the specialist music shows including Bob Harris and the Mark Radcliffe Folk Show, where her music is regularly featured. One of her songs sound tracked the 2016 BBC Folk Awards promo which ran across the BBC channels for three months. Followed in  mid-2016 with a 5-track EP with folk evergreen, Jackie Oates, supported by ‘duo’ dates across the country during August and September. In November and December 2016 Megan embarked on her biggest tour yet -  a 22 date national theatre tour supporting alt-folk legends, Show Of Hands, which won her a new legion of fans.

Her third album, River, was released in October 2017 ahead of her first solo (and sold-out) headline tour of the UK and was reviewed enthusiastically across the press.

“River is such a good record” [R2]

“This is sophisticated contemporary singer-songwriting on a par with Laura Marling” [UNCUT 7/10]

“The sophisticated face of modern British folk – Folk, yet so much more” [MAVERICK ****]

“A worldly and mature work” [Guardian ****]
