Heath Quartet & Michael Collins

The Heath Quartet have performed at the Wooburn Festival since 2006 and over this period have become a highlight of the Festival's classical music offerings.   To celebrate the 50th year of the festival the Heath Quartet have invited the internationally acclaimed clarinettist Michael Collins to join them for what was a truly memorable occasion.

Gary Pomeroy - viola
Christopher Murray - cello

Described by The Strad “…as giving passionate performances that combine technical accomplishment with interpretative ‘air', the Heath Quartet has established an exciting and original voice on the international chamber music scene.” At the 2015 Wooburn Festival their Bartok 5th quartet was a stunning example of their virtuoso playing.

The Quartet performs regularly at Wigmore Hall and last  year the quartet made their debut at Carnegie Hall as part of a USA tour, followed by performances at the Concertgebouw, the Louvre and  onstage in Calixto Beieto's Fidelio at the London Coliseum and finally a tour in Mexico.

Michael Collin’s dazzling virtuosity and sensitive musicianship have earned him recognition as one of today’s most distinguished artists and a leading exponent of his instrument. At 16 he won the woodwind prize in the first BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, going on to make his US debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall at the age of 22. He has since performed as soloist with many of the world’s most significant orchestras and formed strong links with leading conductors. Collins also has the distinction of being the most frequently invited wind soloist to the BBC Proms, including several appearances at the renowned Last Night of the Proms. Michael on YouTube
